Bellamy School of Music is excited to be starting a choir! The course has been designed for ages 7-11, but students outside that age range are welcome as well! Eventually, once the program grows, we will split into an older and younger group, but for now it is all one age group.

Rehearsal Location: 49A Donegani, Pointe-Claire, QC (Espace-Rêverie)

Rehearsal Time: Sundays from 4:30-5:30pm

Cost: $200 (plus tax) for 10 sessions

Since the session has already started, please contact us if you would like to join! Each student is welcome to attend one free trial session, and then you can register for however many classes remain in the semester.

If your child is interested in joining the choir but your household is unable to afford the tuition, please reach out and ask about our funding assistance programs.

What to expect: Designed to accommodate both beginning and experienced musicians, our introductory choir sessions provide the opportunity for students ages 7-11 to explore vocal technique, learn music theory and develop rehearsal skills. Each semester will culminate in a formal performance for friends and family. The program will be grounded in the Comprehensive Musicianship through Performance method, which focuses on developing musically skilled, critical and literate students by diving into that which makes great music great: students will learn to sing not only for its own sake, but also for what singing music together can teach us about the world and our place in it.

Joining a choir can enrich children's lives by providing them with valuable musical, social, and personal development opportunities.

  1. Musical Development: Choirs help children develop their musical skills, including pitch, rhythm, and harmony. They learn to sing in tune and in harmony with others, which enhances their musical abilities.

  2. Vocal Technique: Choirs provide opportunities for children to learn proper vocal techniques, such as breath control, projection, and diction, which are valuable skills for any singer.

  3. Teamwork and Cooperation: Choirs teach children the importance of working together as a team. They learn to listen to others, blend their voices, and follow the conductor's instructions, fostering cooperation and collaboration.

  4. Confidence Building: Performing in front of an audience can boost children's self-confidence and self-esteem. As they master songs and perform in concerts, they gain a sense of accomplishment and pride in their abilities.

  5. Social Skills: Choirs provide a supportive social environment where children can make friends with others who share their interests. They learn how to communicate effectively, resolve conflicts, and build relationships through their shared love of music.

  6. Emotional Expression: Music is a powerful form of emotional expression. Choirs allow children to channel their emotions through singing, providing an outlet for creativity and self-expression.

  7. Discipline and Commitment: Being part of a choir requires regular attendance at rehearsals and dedication to learning and perfecting songs. This helps children develop discipline and a strong work ethic.
